CIO“Charlottesville Inside-Out”
Produced by WHTJ Charlottesville PBS

Starting this November, WHTJ Charlottesville PBS will present a brand-new weekly interview show called “Charlottesville Inside-Out.” The half-hour program is hosted by Terri Allard, a local performing artist and native daughter of the region. The fun and unique series explores the people and places that define Charlottesville.

“Charlottesville Inside-Out” premiered on Thursday, November 8 at 8:30 p.m. WHTJ Charlottesville PBS can be found on analog channel 41, cable channel 7 and digital channel 41.2.

The title for “Charlottesville Inside-Out” comes directly from the concept underlying each episode – Terri Allard introduces the guest from inside WHTJ’s studio on the Downtown Mall, and then she heads out to interview the guest on location.

WHTJ’s new studio is located on the east end of the Downtown Mall, near the Free Speech Monument and City Hall. The studio is equipped with brand new, digital HD camers and a suite of wireless, mobile production equipment that allows the crew to work in a controlled studio setting, and then pick up and go just about anywhere.

Interviews have been conducted at the Charlottesville Pavilion, Innisfree Village, the Free Clinic, along the 250 Bypass for Art in Place, Walker Elementary School, Zocalo restaurant, SOCA’s South Fork soccer fields and in the Dome Room of the Rotunda.

Terri and Paul WagnerGuests include African drummer Darrell Rose; Monticellos’ executive director Dan Jordan; world-champion juggler Mark Nizer; City Schools Superintendent Rosa Atkins and Oscar-winning filmmaker Paul Wagner. Each thirty-minute show features two interview segments.

The first season of “Charlottesville Inside-Out” kicks off with an interview of Mark Thompson, brewmaster at Starr Hill Brewery in Crozet, and Susanne Kogut, executive director of the Charlottesville-Albemarle SPCA. The interviews were filmed on location at the brewery in Crozet and at the new SPCA facility on Berkmar Drive.

The first episode aired on Thursday, November 8 at 8:30 p.m. Subsequent programs will air on Thursdays at 8:30 p.m. on WHTJ (channel 41, cable 7, digital 41.2).
