CURRENTS takes top honors...
Series
wins five Telly Awards and a Virginia Association of Broadcasters Award

VA The Community Idea Stations weekly newsmagazine, VIRGINIA
CURRENTS, received honors from the 23rd Annual Telly Awards. The Telly
Awards showcase and give recognition to outstanding non-network and cable
commercials, film and video productions.
Entries
in the Telly Awards are judged on a rigorous 10-point scale, rather than
competing against other entrants. Submissions receiving a score of 7-8.9
are finalists and receive a Bronze Telly Award. Those receiving a score
of 9.0 or higher are winners and receive a Silver Telly Award. Silver
Telly honors went to VIRGINIA CURRENTS for the "Roosevelt
Deployment" segment. Episode #1112 and segments "Ralph White,"
"Horse Logger" and "Nursing Home Elvis" received Bronze
Telly honors.
VIRGINIA
CURRENTS staff members honored for their work were Shawn Freude, May-Lily
Lee, Mason Mills and John Warner. Richard Haselwood, Melina Lagios and
Andrea Odiorne also contributed to these segments.
VIRGINIA
CURRENTS also won a First Place Station Award from the Virginia Association of Broadcasters in the category of Outstanding News Series
for its "Melvin Fensom" segment.
VIRGINIA
CURRENTS, now in its sixteenth season, has received over 150 honors
over the years. The popular series features stories about the people,
places and issues of the Commonwealth. The series airs statewide on Virginias
public television stations and is distributed worldwide via the U.S. Information
